About Us

ISOLIHLE YOUTH DEVELOPMENT

Isolihle Youth Development is a dedicated non-profit organization with Public Benefit Organization (PBO) status, established in 2009. Our mission is to promote mental health literacy and community development across South Africa. Initially addressing substance abuse, we have expanded our focus to encompass comprehensive mental health education and advocacy. Our flagship program, Mental Health Matters, aims to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and integrate mental health literacy into educational curricula. Collaborating with Mental Health Literacy (Canada), Health and Wellness SETA, and local partners, we empower communities with the knowledge and resources to support mental well-being. Our services also include career guidance, leadership programs, and youth camps, fostering holistic development and resilience in individuals.

Our Process

We use an environmental scan ‘push’ model in which we compile extensive input from experts, individuals and communities to identify specific needs for our materials. We also use a ‘pull’ process in which organizations and institutions (ex. government, educators, health providers, etc.) can come to us and make specific requests for materials to meet their needs.

Brief mental health consultation with a counsellor

You can now book for a brief consultation with one of our inhouse registered counsellors who will assist with brief mental health interventions. Please mention that you prefer this service in your email service request. The Registered Counsellors have a shorter turn-around time and you will be able to receive a consultation sooner. These sessions can be in person at our Hatfield campus, or online through our online chatbox
